Trevor, Randy, Ben and Carl grew up together in the small town of Grimshaw playing hockey and forging a friendship that runs deep. Twenty-four years later, when Ben commits suicide, the three remaining friends gather once again in their hometown. But going home means going back, and that's not always easy. The three men are forced to confront their memories of a sinister crime that happened in an abandoned house in their neighbourhood, a crime that claws its way to the present, leaving its indelible mark on everyone.

Andrew Pyper will read from The Guardians at the Nepean Centrepointe Library, 101 Centrepointe on Sat Dec 10th, 2011, 2:30-3:30. Don't miss this chance to meet the author!
It only took me two days to read The Guardians by Andrew Pyper – it was that good. The story centres around four childhood friends, who played on their high school hockey team called “The Guardians”. The novel opens with Trevor, Randy and Carl each going back to their small Ontario town for their friend Ben’s funeral. Ben has committed suicide and the remaining three must come to grips with not only his sudden death but with something even more sinister. Trevor, Randy and Carl have been keeping details of a mysterious crime they were all involved with twenty-four years earlier locked up. But travelling back to Grimshaw and once again seeing the abandoned house at 321 Caledonia Street brings all the bad memories back – and more!
Looks to be a good read, but no time - will put on my to be read
Great read
Well written but too gruesome to finish
High praise from critics lead me to this book but alas for me by page 5 I was bored and by page 50 I was done.
Horrors! Pyper's terrifying new book is already being developed for film. "Through the device of a haunting, Pyper gives us a novel that is both a coming of age story and a story of midlife crisis.....a page-turner that will make your heart pound."
